"Milk" is a full cream movie.

I returned to the cinema last weekend and saw the movie “Milk” which stars Sean Penn. Milk has 8 nominations in this year’s Academy Awards – including Best Picture and Best Actor.

About the film – Milk.

Filmmaker Gus Van-Sant tells the powerful and inspiring story of Harvey Milk - the first openly gay elected politician in the US. Tired of hiding from himself, Harvey abandons his high-paying Wall Street job to come out of the closet and move to San Francisco's Castro district. There, his camera shop quickly becomes a social hub of tolerance for many who feel they have no place else to gather, disenfranchised by the era's narrow-mindedness. Harvey begins to speak for this silent majority - taking on bigoted businesses, unions and politicians and spreading his message of freedom and hope.

Sean Penn was wonderful in his portrail of Harvey Milk. I felt his determination to bring awareness to society and for an acceptance that all people deserve to be free to live their life’s without prejudice, discrimination and to be safe. It was a very confronting movie of how we as a society treat people that may be different in the way we act and think. It brings homosexuality right to you and I believe it test the boundaries of our thinking and gives you the opportunity to see what emotions it bring to you. It is a very thought provoking and one that will bring many questions to mind. It gives us an opportunity to see that hopefully over the past 30 years we have grown more mature, more tolerant and aware that just because someone may think and act differently, this doesn’t make them bad…..

The Day the Music died

3rd February – Marks 50 years since the passing of Buddy Holly, J P Richardson (the Big Bopper) and RichieValence. Their death was due to a four seater single-engine Beech craft plane plunging into a frozen field north-west of Clear Lake, Iowa. The 3 were en route to another Winter Dance Party tour gig in Moorhead, Minnesota when they died. Buddy Holly had great hits such as ”That’ll Be The Day”, “Oh, boy”. Amazing how the years have gone but the music lives on.

Challenging Views

It may be satisfying when others confirm our opinions, but sometimes we can learn more from people who disagree with us. Read a book or article that goes against your spiritual beliefs – the mental challenge will spur you on to define your own viewpoint more clearly. Opposition may confirm your conviction.

I come across a website called paulsadowski.com/namedata.asp – you type in your name and it gives you the meaning and some interesting info about it. You can also do you birth chart.

www.wisdom@philosophersnotes.com –information on different books. www.themastersgathering.com/videos - information from different people as seen on “The Secret” movie.

I am flying to Perth on Friday to have some fun with my friend Tracey. The last time I was in WA was January 1983 with David, we were on our way to the UK. Our trip took 3 months and 7 countries to get there. I am looking forward to seeing how Perth has grown and changed since my last visit.

House improvements have made further progress this week and work will continue over the coming months. We also have two sets of British friends staying with us in March so lots of new adventures.

I wish you all a wonderful week and hope you are findingurwings ………… Roz.
