THE POWER OF THE MIND

MEANING FROM MACQUARIE DICTIONARY

A story: - 1. Narrative designed to interest or amuse the hearer or reader; a tale. 2. The plot, or succession of incidents of a novel, poem, drama, etc. 3. Media a news item. 4. Colloquial a lie, a fib.

I have enjoyed listening to the cd of Eckhart Tolle’s book “A New Earth - Awakening your life’s purpose”. I read the book last year and now I am listening to the cd. I have enjoyed the challenge of thinking, with renewed eyes, of the way I look at this life. It has also given me time to understand that we, as human beings, have to listen to our bodies as well as our minds. Learning about the ego and how it works is very interesting. The mind is an amazing tool and there is so much about it that we do not know. Most people built their identity through ego - which is an attachment to things, belongings, land, money, social status etc as a way of building their self worth. If we become aware that the ego is there and allow ourselves to just come from a place of being “in the present moment” we can find the happiness that is truly our essence of being. There is only one moment and that is NOW the present. http://www.eckharttolle.com/eckharttolle.

Last night we had an interesting discussion on Australian culture and, more to the point, my friends view on Christmas celebrations in this country – Australia. The passion that was given to their view is that other ethnic cultures were not accepting of this country and its Christian values. They believe it to be a privilege to live here and if you choose to stay you should speak English and fit into this way of life as we have for the last 200 years. Many believe that the fabric of this country, as we know it, is being eroded and we are allowing this to happen. This is a sentiment held by many Australians. There are many people holding different values and they also have a collective story running. An example would be the conflict between Israelis and the Palestinian people, who are fighting over the ownership of Gaza. Both sides believe themselves to be the owners of this land and both take insane measures to control it. If you just step back from the story for a few minutes and ask yourself why, what is the true feeling you have FEAR, CONTROL. If you understand the law of attraction then what you think about you bring about and the more passion that is in that vibration the stronger it will be. I am not saying it is wrong to have an opinion or be passionate about things – in fact it is very important to have passion. I believe it should be for the positive outcomes in our thinking and not the fear or negativity in us. As we live more and more in a global village with the internet, phone, air travel the world is getting smaller – metaphorically. FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

In memory to Darcey Freeman

The other story I found very difficult to come to terms or understand is 4 year old Darcey Iris Freeman who was thrown from Melbourne’s West Gate bridge yesterday and the person who delivered the child to the water was her father. For whatever his reasons, we will never understand why someone who gives life to another human-being comes to the decision that it is in that person’s best interest to take life from them. My heart goes out to those left behind to come to terms, acceptance and hopefully forgiveness, not for the act, but the peace it ultimately brings to their lives. This will take amazing strength, soul searching and love. I wish them peace, love and compassion for their days ahead.

“You’relikemefrank” update: - As you may be aware from previous articles we have a racehorse in the UK. The 3-year-old chestnut colt has now had six runs and the past two races he has gone to the Winners Circle, in 3rd place. David & I are very excited at his continuing improvement. The buzz of seeing him reminds us of the love we have for his name sake “Francis Clarkson” – his spirit lives on. “Frank” will be running again soon, at Wolverhampton on either February 6th or 20th.

I wish you a great day, until next time……….I hope you are findingurwings…… Roz

Slumdog Millionaire

This week I went with David to see "Slumdog Millionaire" at the cinema. The film was recommended to us by friends who thought it was great and they were right. If you haven't seen the movie yet I would recommended it to you.

This is the story of a penniless, eighteen-year old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, Jamal Malik, is one question away from winning the staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, suddenly he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. After all, how could an uneducated street kid possibly know so much? Determined to get to the bottom of Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector spends the night probing Jamal's incredible past.

The acting was great and the story not what you expect. On reflection of what I saw it was an awakening of how life can be in a different country and culture. I was also very grateful for the life I have and so lucky to live in this wonderful country. It puts some peoples complaints and worries in perspective.

Good Luck at the Oscars.........

Since my last article many of the goals for the improvements of our home which we listed on the 31st December have been taking shape. In the past week I have been very busy painting my daughter’s bedroom. She chose a lime wash orange called “Gelati”, it is a deep vibrant colour and with the effect of a suede finish, which gives a soft feel. I have chosen white trims and with chocolate brown accessories and a new white bedspread we are both very happy with the finish. I have found a paint shop called Porters Paints in Alexandria and the service and quality of the paints are second to none – in my opinion. www.porterspaints.com.au.

Transforming our two courtyards is one of our priorities. Creating tranquil places for the entertainment of friends, sitting reading or just relaxing. We have had a quote to remove the large pine trees that are damaging the walls and for the laying of natural pavers and large pots with camellias and a beautiful water fountain. We are very much looking forward to many wonderful summers in our new environment.
I have a gentlemen coming to quote on painting the outside of our home and have had measurements taken to install new shutter blinds in our bedroom.

I have also been given a book “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle and I read his book called “A New Earth” last year, which I found an amazing thought provoking read and would recommend them to you. Eckhart is coming to Australia in March and this weekend I bought a ticket to see him in Sydney on 7th March. You can visit the website www.hayhouse.com.au for more info.

This month also saw two friends visit me on a professional level for Reiki/Seichem healings. It went very well and both gave great feedback on their experiences. I have distributed several of my brochures to people and they have been impressed with the quality, which has been very nice. I have also given to my first paying clients flower boxes which were designed in conjunction with Dorothy Kelly of Agenia’s Craft – International Pressed Flower Artist.

Dorothy has been creating flower pictures for the past 20 years and has worked with flowers all her life. She has won awards in Japan - Nagano Olympic Festival 1997 and instructed at workshops in Japan and Australia. Won 1st prize and a special prize in 2005 at the Melbourne Show and received a 3rd place in her class at the Philadelphia competition in 2008.

I have returned to Meditation classes at The Crown Chakra www.thecrownchakra.com.au on a Tuesday night from 6.30 – 8 pm. The cost is $22 and it is a wonderful way to have guided meditations giving you a feeling of centeredness and joy. Meditation can be done in many forms from sitting in a park looking at the beauty of nature, a walk, sitting by the ocean or whatever it is for you that enables you to be “ in the moment”.

I hope this week helps you in findingurwings :) …………..Roz.

WELCOME TO 2009.......

2009 was brought in with a bang. To the excitement of over a million people, who were in boats or on the shores of Sydney Harbour or others who stood on balconies or witnessed on their TVs, we all watched with delight at the beautiful colours that lit the sky. The theme was Creative and upon checking the meaning of this in the dictionary: –

1). Having the quality or power of creating.
2). Resulting from originality of thought or expression.

The scene of creativity was no more obvious than that spectacular fireworks display on the first day of January. I have been visualizing over the past couple of weeks what colours I wish to paint different rooms in my home and how to transform the outdoor courtyard to a tranquil place where I wish to sit and enjoy. The earthy colours have resonated with me very much ..... browns, oranges, black and the co-ordination of a flow from inside to the outdoors. A friend pointed out to me that Africa was on my vision board and I realized that these are my colours, as well as the 2 beautiful ladies that stand in my Reiki room.

It continues to amaze me that our thoughts really do create the world we live in. It is not what we are sent to deal with, but how we handle challenges that will create our present and future. It is who we are on the inside that is projected to our outer world.

“Inside every human being is a seed of possibility,
a burning desire and a hope that one day they will have
the courage to express what lies within them
to the world they see outside of them”

- Amir Zoghi-

A couple of wow moments last night was that whilst enjoying a glass of wine with David, we wrote down our goals, things we wanted to achieve with no expectation of how or when it may happen. I address it to my angels and asked the best way for them to receive the message. I placed a stamp on an envelope and put it in a special box in my Reiki room. I also asked for them to send me a sign that I would know they had received my letter. In that instant my mobile phone sounded with a message received. The second time, while writing a txt message to my dear friend Jana, (she is in Melbourne for New Year) and as I was about to send the message my phone sounded with a message received. I sent the txt to Jana and then checked my message, I had a message from her. I was amazed; it occurred to me that at the very same time in two different states we had the same thought. That is the most synchronistic event to date and shows that we are very connected.

“How does it get better than this”?

It was also bought home to me on the last day of 2008 letting go to some ideas, even done with the right intention is better to admit you made a mistake than to continue with that idea for the wrong reasons and thus compound the mistake.

Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself….

What will your creative ideas be for this year? How will you achieve your creativity…. could it be taking up painting, finding that perfect partner, enjoy more exercise or finding new places to explore…….. Whatever it is, love doing what you do, enjoy every moment and count your blessings.

I hope you are findingurwings……….. Roz.

I received this message from a friend today 1/1/2009 and I send it to you –

Happy New Year, may peace break into your house and thieves steal your debts, may love stick to your face like Vaseline and laughter assault your lips, may the problems you have forget your address. May 2009 be the best year of your life.
